PEER SUPPORT SPACE

“Peer Support Space worked with Lisa Matas to create our peer respite, Eva’s Casita, near downtown Orlando. From the beginning, Lisa was able to take our unique communal wants and needs for our space and find ways to logistically make even our out-of-the-box visions into something tangible. As an alternative to psychiatric hospitals, we knew that we wanted the space to be homelike, welcoming, affirming, and accessible. Before getting started and ongoingly, Lisa really deep dived into not just our wants, but our “why’s”, really getting to the root of what our visions and intentions were for our project.

Lisa was able to curate a cohesive vision for the space, utilizing both stylish and practical textiles, fixtures, and furniture that really make the space feel inviting and ultimately, like a place you look forward to staying at. From the renovation process to the decor elements, everything was mindfully curated for future guests of all backgrounds using intentional design. Lisa was able to help us smoothly overcome many unique hurdles we ran into around nonprofit funding and building structural issues with a professionalism and flexibility that was imperative to getting our project completed.

Lisa is detail-oriented and, while kind and understanding, has high standards for anyone she hires to work with. This has led to her having an ecosystem of contractors she knows who are personally ready to get any job done. She is incredible at staying on top of every moving piece needed in a way we wouldn’t have been able to accomplish without her.

Eva’s Casita is a soft landing space for anyone needing a break from life to get away for a few days in a cozy environment. It never gets old watching people’s faces light up as soon as they walk in, knowing this is going to be something special. We’re very grateful for Lisa’s role in bringing the first of its kind peer respite to Florida, and are hopeful this can serve as a blueprint for future peer respites.

In our post-stay feedback forms, guests have frequently shared that the space itself was their favorite part of their stay. Testimonials included praise for each of the themed bedrooms, the “Star Room”, “Mush Room” and “Treehouse Room”, the peaceful environment, the cozy and relaxing vibes, and the overall atmosphere of the space. With Lisa as the lead on the design and project management of this project, our executive team was able to rest assured knowing that Eva’s Casita was in capable, caring hands. Go hire Lisa, she has a good heart and a brilliant mind.”

“Lisa is quite skilled as an interior designer and assumed the role of project manager for two design projects for me. The first renovation was significant and complex, and included juggling construction challenges while remaining fully operational. We achieved a sophisticated, aesthetically beautiful space that positioned us among the best practices in Florida and allowed us to be more competitive in the aesthetics industry. After Lisa's help, patients felt relaxed and cared for, volume of patient surgeries and ancillary services increased, and our team gained efficiency in all areas of function.

“When I retired after 42 years of practice, Lisa was again instrumental in giving the office a “facelift” to increase its perceived value and desirability. She worked her magic, and it was sold for considerable profit to another physician. Each time the facility was transformed, the objectives were surpassed. Lisa would be an asset to anyone requiring renovation to a healthcare facility.”

"Lisa Matas Design transformed the interior and exterior of my home, which started off as an ordinary ranch style house and ended up the gem of my subdivision. When the project was in its infancy, she took time to listen and learn about my exposure and love for the culture and architecture of Japan. This was reflected in the design aesthetic she presented, which included a comprehensive, reworked kitchen and floor plan, suggested finish materials and a realistic budget.

Prior to starting the renovation, she did physical mock-ups showing the new kitchen and island layout, the new office space and a new entrance to the master bedroom for our real time review. Her extensive knowledge of construction methods, together with flooring and cabinetry materials, paint treatments, kitchen accessories and appliances were critical to the success of the project.

Lisa’s impeccable attention to detail and the harmony of the renovated space is beyond excellent, and the final results exceeded my expectations. She completely transformed my home into a Zen-like oasis where I savor spending time. And when guests visit for the first time, their jaw drops as soon as they walk into the front door. I strongly recommend Lisa Matas."
